Was wandering if someone here knows how to get a simalair effect
as this picture. Want the same effect for one of my own pictures ^^

There are a few different effects applied to this picture, and there are a few different ways to get similar results (which are of varying appearance and quality). I assume you have Photoshop.

1. Image is duotoned or sepia-toned. Sepia tone is simpler to do, by going to Image > Adjustments > Photo Filter, then using Sepia in that dialog. Image > Mode > Grayscale will grayscale the photo, then changing the mode to Duotone will allow you to assign two different colors to different parts of the brightness curve in the photo.

2. As for the glowing effect, this can be achieved many different ways. Filter > Distort > Diffuse Glow can diffuse the highlights and/or shadows in a photograph. Alternatively, you can copy the layer, use Filter > Blur > etc. to blur the copy to your liking, use Image > Adjustments > Levels to change the white, black, and gray points, then use your Layers palette to blend the new layer into the original by decreasing its opacity.

In both of these suggestions, the first idea is the simpler to execute, so choose which to try based on your Photoshop skill set. I hope I've answered your questions sufficiently.

Duotone. Brightness/Contrast. Blur. *shrugs*

I should mention Brightness/Contrast is mostly deprecated. Levels and Curves are much more sophisticated tools, and are worth the brief learning curve. Google it!

Try the Orton Effect (http://pcin.net/update/2006/11/01/the-orton-effect-digital-photography-tip-of-the-week/)to get the soft look, then you can adjust colours and contrast as desired.

Tyger, that is awesome. I'm absolutely going to be playing with that treatment.

no prob!

Zone, here's a quick 2 minute edit, but as you can see with the right tweaking of levels and curves combined with the orton effect it's pretty close.

that is damn close ... but I have to say I prefer your version better.

ha..ha! not bad for a 2 minute edit :)

I've found using this technique with a mask layer to show sharpness in the eyes and certain areas of the image works well with wedding/engagement type pics. Not everyone likes a Sharp to the tack image....I've found many people like the soft dreamy look.

Do you guys mind if I say something about this effect?

"Ugh."

(Sorry, it's a taste thing... too many bad CD covers I guess.)

ha...ha....it's an old effect that's been around a long time and yes it's overdone!

At least it's not a filter :) yet!

Big Brad Holland fan too, I bet.

And so am I. But that's paint and this, this... well, as an out-of-the-can 'solution' to creating atmosphere it's so... well, out of the can.

It looks kind of odd to me on people photos, but I think it looks great on the flower in the tutorial.

I am not at liberty to disclose such information.

I like your way of doing it though Tyger, but I agree with Broacher too.
