with my sincerest apologies for being absent from the forum recently, i've made a quick little GDF desktop for y'all. it works best if you set your desktop background color to 144/144/134.

How did you make that checkered background?

here's how i did it:
in Illustrator, make a large number of horizontal lines (using copy/paste), left-align them and then distribute them evenly. (obviously, more lines == more mesh density). when you have a number you're satisfied with, 'group' 'copy' 'paste' and rotate the new group 90-degrees. this gives you a quick grid that can be easily edited. now, group everything together and do a FILTER>DISTORT>FREE DISTORT, pinching one of the (left or right) sides in vertically, while spreading the opposite end out vertically. yay. :)

Nice but what I like even more is your method for making the grid. Thanks!

lol...thanks everyone! ...i'll have to edit my lil' grid tutorial, and mention that using the 'Free Transform Tool' on the grid (if everything is grouped) gives you better feedback than by using the filter.

...also try using the 'Warp Tool' or the 'Pucker Tool' on the grid to get some interesting 3D-mesh-like effects.

Nice work Mike. I use Corel GS11 and have created some great grids using your methods.
Thanks.
