I need to put together a photo montage for our website to link our vertical industries to our software. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could portray each of these industries visually? I have a DSLR, and a city with big buildings at my
disposal.
Government
Healthcare
Finance
Manufacturing
Insurance
Transportation
Education
Any ideas are appreciated :) Just looking to make something somewhat fun out of a boring project.

No visual ideas, but if you want to make that project more fun, you could list those categories like so:
Finance
Insurance
Government
Healthcare
Transportation
Manufacturing
Education

For some reason, I don't think that will help us, but thanks for the feedback :D

hate to tell you, but this is one discussion that never is good on the board. The truth is that since we are all in the Creative Industry, it's what differentiates us. The design work is just how you show what you got hired for. Just saying that i don't think anyone wants to really do the leg work for ya. but i'll give you the suggestions that will more than likely follow.
Research it. Do word association. Just start looking at other things and finding an association with what you are looking at.

Boring is what boring does. Listen, you know the 'straight' visualization answers to these industry areas--now find another way. One that reveals a connection between your product and their's. Is photography a given? Likewise with photo montage?
Even if it is, what about your product name, or outstanding feature? Maybe you could introduce a common character or element to tie it all together. I don't know what your software product is but if it fits into all these areas it likely has a common 'angle'. Visualize that.
Why does it have to be a big city outdoor shot? Just think again. Could you do it with symbolic objects? On a table top? On a body? With tatoos? I don't know how, just find another way beyond the expected. Amaze your boss, this forum. And hopefully, even 'yourself' by finding a solution that works BECAUSE it isn't what everyone expected.

Oh, I totally understand that. I just wanted a little feedback to get me started, so thanks for that. Let's keep it constructive though.:)

You do some work on your project.... then maybe some people might give you feedback on your ideas. Not the other way around.
How's that for constructive?:D

I would have to say that it's not very constructive at all :)

You didn't give us anything to be constructive about... ;)

Maybe a bigger city with bigger buildings or a bigger DSLR would do the trick.
(Does anyone else ever feel that our culture's unprecedented faith in the power of digital technology as a drop-in, legitimate substitute for human imagination is creating a new 'age of endarkenment' out there?)

Without knowing the product and the concepts that have been rejected, why should we waste our time doing the work for which YOU are getting paid?
Gimme gimme gimme.
It's not an age of endarkment Broacher. It's an age of imagined entitlement
