hey y'all,

check out this new site I just finished building.

http://www.chris-jenkins.com

i only did the build, as chris wanted to do the design himself.

it's pretty basic, all done with scripting, no tweening. sorry if you're on 56k, i know it's a bad thing, but he wanted all the imagery. loads fast enough on broadband though (i hope)

please critique

Looks great... loaded fine for me.
I love that 'rough and ready' look.

thanks reed, what about navigation, like with the arrows and numbers for scrolling ? do they work or is it just over complicating the site ?

Oh sorry, I got a bit distracted by them cool illustrations! It reminds me of the artwork used on OK Computer by Radiohead.

Well I can't spot any errors etc.

I like the way the menu's slide around once clicked but I'm not sure about the white backgrounds around the text. What also springs to mind, is to have the text done like newspaper cuttings (like on a ransom note), all slightly odd fonts etc (that's if you've got control over that element of the design).

Great job.

Loads fast on 512kbps. Pretty good usability wise, I suppose you could keep the links and disable them as the others are being used to aid the visitor where they are. /emoticons/cool.gif

When you hover over the > sign, the images scroll automatically which is really nice. But they go too fast to view. You could make this slower and make it a more obvious feature?

sorry fusion, took me a minute to work out what you meant. The only problem I considered is that some areas, such as cd's and books, will more than likely be split in sub sections in the future and so the space is needed under the title for both this and potential descriptions of the work.

i like the site, very easy to nabigate.
The only thing i have to tell you like an advice is the double arrows to change images has Ferrari F355 engine inside and are very fast and dificult to control, just kiddind but the numbers could be a illustation too in order to match with the rest of the site.

wow i love the great illustrations! they are so abstract so complicated yet so simple to understand :D yeah, as what some of them have said, the double arrows (>>) scroll too fast.. when i stop, all the illustrations have passed .. ha.. but its good to have the single arrow which is slower..

I love the look! And it's easy to navigate which I love too, maybe add some info about who's Chris Jenkins, I hate sites with an info page with 5 or 6 paragraphs but 4 or 5 lines could work
