Ive recently discovered this forum in search for some answers concerning printing and press.

I'm a 4th year graphic design student and currently im in a conundrum about what to do in the broad field of graphic and visual communications :) I have done posters, corporate identities, animations, and music as well. looking forward to start a small poster business pretty soon.

Hi Helvetica. Are you thinking of going straight into starting your business after your degree? My advice to you would be to get some work experience working for a company before you do this. School is only a starting point for design knowledge - you will learn even more when you start working. You might as well be learning and getting paid by someone else.

Thanks for the quick response, and i agree that I should be getting experience first... I have freelanced for over 200 companies now, even though they are small companies. I have done tremendous amounts of logo jobs as well as corporate identity packages... I have yet to venture further down the print job business... As much as I wanna get experience, it's tough being an international student in the US and trying to get a job... visas and whatnot are very anal about these things.. also, the job market in NY seems to be a bit too saturated and I somewhat decided to go on my own path to success by selling my own designs... homegrown style :)
