When you get settled please read through the threads located here (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=42). They will give you all the info you need on how the forum runs, the rules and regs, and give you some background info on our long running, inside jokes ;)

... btw I'm upstate so I can't really answer that for you ... but there are a few members on board that are right from the heart of the city. You might not get many responses though until Monday. It's a holiday weekend so things are a bit slow ;)

I've lived 15 miles outside NYC all my life. It's a cool place, but I rarely get to visit as a tourist. I like MoMA though, that place is very cool.

Why don't you check and see if there are any design organizations meeting in your area, and see if you can sit in on a meeting? That would be a good place to start. :)
