BBEdit, TextMate or Neither

Which piece of software would you chaps recommend and why, BBedit, TextMate or Another One I may not have heard of? I'm on a Mac by the way.

eclipse - free and fairly well made/maintained for how much it cost - nothing.

However, bbedit is nice as a stand alone text editor. However it costs $125.00 just for a text editor.

Textmate is overrated in my opinion. I prefer simple and sweet.

I love BBEdit. It's one of those programs where it has all the features you could possibly want, but when you don't need them, they get out of your way. It's just a really well made piece of software.

As tZ said, Eclipse is really good, though personally, I never really got on with it. Still, I know many people who love it.

And, yeah, Textmate is over-rated,

Smultron is also another one. It's open source I think and thus free. I haven't used it much, but I've heard good things about it.
