hi folks.
Would appreciate your critique of the following set of logos. I have used different colors as i wanted the client to see different colors, but i havent settling on anything. it is for a personal trainer.

I think 1 and 6 have the most potential. I think the butterfly is a little too far away from the logo , just slightly. Quick question what does the butterfly mean and how does that tie into personal training?

the butterfly is suppose to represent change and beauty in different shapes and sizes.
originally i wanted to use an ant....strong and agile...but she was definitly more a butterfly person.

yes 1 does it for me.

1 looks the best to me, the butterfly doesn't seem to have any context as a "change" icon without a larvae but I think it still works ok. I wouldn't expect many males giving her a call with an icon like that. Just a thought, something more uni-sex might work out.

If that isn't her target group then never mind :P.

I prefer the first one, it is very nicely done. I do, however, agree with Randomhero. The butterfly could make some guys hesitant to use the service.

I am not getting personal training out of these. butterflies are very saturated in the design market right now, but they can be done. How about you incorporate some sort of human body shape that fits the butterfly. There are definitely sections on the human body that could look like a butterfly. If you could create a fusion of the two, it would be a nice touch and stay in line with your original idea of the butterfly representing change and beauty

^^ agree with above. Maybe use one image of the butterfly, but incorporate metamorphosis and beauty in one image? Right now with this logo, I see maybe.. a house-cleaning woman, a wedding planner, a dress store... something more delicate than a personal trainer. I would add some strength to it.
for me..
3 and 4 are the most "finished"
2 is the most "cold"
6 is forgettable
7 looks like you were just looking for a new idea
1 isn't bad but I'm not attracted to it.
5 .. I guess I don't have the font on my mac...? there are just character squares

Can we see your sketches or wordlists?

^I agree.
But out of these I agree with Marsh on the 1 and 6 being the ones to work with.

The use of an Ant is a great concept, but the image of it might say EXTERMINATOR more than strength.( I am fascinated by Ants and eagerly anticipate a day where I CAN use one in a logo.)

wow...yall are all great. Thanks for the comments. i like the idea of incorporating the butterfly into the human body. maybe i need to study the human body a bit closer :) but i cant think of any parts that come to mind.
she didnt even come close to picking number 1. She basically sent me back to the drawing board for all of them. now she wants chinese lettering/symbols. is this even legal in a logo.
i am going to play around with some more concepts and post again. might have to do away with the butterfly.
any comments on using chinese lettering would be helpful. she wants the symbol for strength now.

Google, trainer, fitness, ect.

Find awesome sillouhete (sp?) from said photos

Make a vector, find butterfly with similar perspective from same method.

Trace both one on top of the other, Dsign and sign =D.

I really like the idea of merging the human body with the butterfly, I think that would work really well. I can't wait to see these ideas incorporated into the logo.

haha...then i will climb mt. everest and spend my lottery winnings on a new truck. i think you estimate my skills beyond my ability. i found a few yoga poses that might work...if you consider throwing wings on to the tree stance a piece of work. i am really sorry ....i just cant visualize the merging of the 2 figures in a nice way. back to the drawing board. will keep u posted.

Aww, I'm sure you can do it! A yoga pose could be really cool, I did not think of that before. Perhaps a basic pose like the mountain pose would be nice and maybe you could blend the wings into the arm as if they are in a way an extension to the arm so it looks more like a fusion of the two species. I am no expert, but I think that could look really nice.

Does the client teach Yoga as part of her personal training? If not, then using a Yoga pose as part of the logo doesn't really work IMO. Now, if she does, then it's something that could certainly work.

Not necessarily, a person who routinely does yoga is generally in good shape so an outline of that might not be a problem. So long as there isn't a direct connection to yoga I doubt there would be much confusion.

I don't like the name, "CPT". It would have been nicer if it were, "Carla's"; then you'd add "personal trainer" underneath. Have you done some pencil sketches in the direction of metamorphosis as some guys here talked about. That would be an interesting proposal.
