i knew someone would say that! Thank God the kid's alright. Actually, it sounds like he's a pretty smart 5 yr old. He stopped and purchased a snack and drink at a gas station first. I'm surprised the clerk there didn't think anything of it.

*sigh* They grow up so fast.....
He's obviously mature for his age and has learned very early what a great place hooters is.....even if the food does kinda suck.

The clerk probably thought a parent was in a car outside getting gas and gave him a couple bucks to pick out a snack for himself.
He is a smart kid, certainly. To cross 2 busy streets by yourself at that age isn't a small feat. I was too scared to cross one semi-busy street 100' from my house by myself when I was that age. I just busted out crying until a older student offered to help me across. :o

Wait...he's five...is he hungry for buffalo wings or boobies?
I know of a child that was breast-fed to age 8.

LOL!!!! I'm imagining him pulling out a wallet and handing a credit card that is in his name to the cashier!

"Yea, I broke outta daycare and went to hooters when I was 5. Ordered me a beer and a piece of tail. It was an average day"
