I forgot to put this one in my last post ("Industrial/EBM/Metal graphic designer")!

It's the wickedest one of all too!

Thread merged.
All in one place now.

"and ame"?
Free and worth every penny. Not to mention illegible.
Some of those would be pretty darn expensive as silkscreen t-shirts for a band on a budget small enough to want a templated logo. Templated logos are not a unique presence.

If you want to portfolio your skills in metal grunge, come up with some fictional band names and work your design around them. While all these might say 'I am a metal band' they are not integral to a band name and are all fairly generic grunge techniques. Done to death.

The second one isn't very legible, the forwards and backwards letters mixed together can work, but its gotta be more controlled. You want people to be able to read the bands name at a glance. The last one is by far the best.

metal band graphic design. what is that LOL. All your showing is the layout of a composition. have you any work which a band has used?

second PrintDriver

You should also use a vector program to create logos such as adobe illustrator, xara or inkscape. You should never create a logo in a raster program such as paint, gimp or photoshop. Executing a logo in a raster program is good reflection of their experience in the industry.

I think they all need more work.

and the last one uses the "plus/cross" design in the characters, currently being associated with "generation kill" on HBO. seems like a sort of rip-off. they're kind of all over the place, and not in a "grunge-cool" way. you should try concentrating on the basics and then try to mash it up.

I'm a huge metalhead and I've gotta say I agree with most of the people here...I think they need more work.

They are all a bit hard to read and seem to be way too busy and 'cluttered'. try making up fictional band names and make those names stand out more than the 'background elements'...make those names 'pop'.

Keep practicing and post up more of your work as you progress so everyone can help to give you some critiques.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I just wanted to show off what i like to do so:
1. There not that finished off (by the way i don't know why they have such bad quality :/)
2. If you don't think there good enough than it's something i won't pursue - i just wanted to see if there anything people would want.

I'll try your suggestions and post up some new ones soon!

P.S: to PrintDriver; i didn't actually think about merchandise when i made these (i was just thinking about CD covers and profile layouts) so thanks for that :/

...(by the way i don't know why they have such bad quality :/)

Because they are raster images saved at low res.

Do it cause you love to do it. Don't do it cause its a fad and what we "want"

Too true, man. I REALLY like to create this kind of stuff but (i know this is a profesional forum lol) i just get annoyed by all the legal, payment etc. stuff.

i just want to create logos, covers etc. for underground bands that don't have enough money for it.

BTW the "plus-cross" font wasn't copyrighted when i found it, so that's a bummer

well if you like doing it learn how to do it right.

don't use photoshop for logos use illustrator or some other vector software so the band can actually use the logo you made for them.

selfish promotions aside, template designs aside, if you like doing this i suggest you learn from professional metal designers for a more clean look

as another diehard metalhead, and one that has seen lamb of god 5 or 6 times its always driven me nuts that they use papyrus for their logo.

A big part of logo design isn't about making something that you think looks pretty. But actually having to work within the confines of a brief. Designers don't work completely on their own without any input from a client. Also the problem with bands is that there is normally more than 1 person making decisions on the logo. This can lead to frankensteinish designs.

I suggest you study a lot of successful band logos. Write down what works and what doesn't.
