So i am re-doing a general contractor website. I previously managed to make one for my web class, but the end result i wasn't to fond of. So i decided to create a new.

all comments and suggestions welcome please!

new > http://www.jeremywisecup.com/MesaWeb07_08/pages

I may add a front landing page like the old site. but we shall see.

Looks good.... however the first thing that struck me was that the logo (top right) is very pixelated and looks pretty low resolution.. Id get a crisp clean one up there

also on the portfolio page you seem to have blue borders around the pictures

Overall, I like it.

A few things: Menu feels cramped. I think each tab needs some breathing room (either interior padding between font and edge of tab, or between the tabs themselves, or maybe even both)

And that logo needs to be resized before you place it. The original image is 139px × 176px but it's being dispayed at 104px x 132px. Makes it jagged in some browsers.

And last but not least, check your work in multiple browsers. You have some problems with the footer in ie7 and ie 6.

I agree about the logo and the navigation. Please add some padding, and decrease the margin for them so that it is a seamless transition. Another thing I had an issue with is the text size. If you make it 12px it would make it much easier to read.

I honest do not like the gray box on the home page. I think you ould do better than that. To me it looks just like a Blob over a nice house picture.

Fix a few silly things and it will validate too. Always a bonus.

Congrat,

by the way, liked the galleries, did you create them yourself or did you integrate pre-designed galleries.

this is a rough version. As i still need to make all correct validations, and little imperfections. The picture on the front is a mock photo untill i get a chance to go shoot a few photos for the front.

The galleries are photoshop galleries, but i intergrated them into my page.

I still rather new at web design. I have a lot to learn still, so any pointers and insight is great to hear! thanks for all the criticism. It is very helpful.

When you say PHOTOSHOP galleries, what do you mean? It looks like a FLASH applet, is it a plugin flash gallery applet that you can edit or did you create the applet in FLASH yourself?

I am interested because I am shopping for one myself.

They are probably Photoshop script galleries. You export your images out of PS as a flash image gallery and link the flask file into your HTML coding.

When in photoshop,
>file>automate>web photo gallery

Before hand, its best to get all photos wanting to be used in a folder of their own. From there, It will ask for the root folder of all photos, and it will create everything else. Play with the options to suite your needs. There are many different versions. The best ones imo, are the flash based.

From there you can go in and edit the html file it creates when done, to fit the structure of your page.
