Ok, think back 10-20 years....I was little but I am trying to think of a toy I used to play with.

Those plastic stencil-type things in which you put the tip of your pencil in and then you spin, spin, spin on the paper with this stencil and TA-DA! You get a
3-D image on your paper...

What the hell are they called?? No one I know can think of what they are called, and all my guesses with Google come up empty. Any input??

Suggestions of maybe (but is not what it is called)
-crazy doodle
- gyro doodle
-3d doodle maker

Oboy. can't wait.
You might want to realize it wasn't 10-20 years ago but more like the 1960's. Hopefully your design reflects that era.

I wasn't around in the 1960's ;)

Ya, I wasn't around in the 60's either, I remember using it in the early 80's. So much mindless fun, you could get hypnotized by it.

I had a very strange version of the spirograph. I'm not sure what it was called, but it was much more versatile with the stuff you could produce with it. I'll try and find a picture of it online because it's longwinded to describe. It was just one unit though, so no losing the little plastic circles either!

I loved my Spirograph, back in the 60's. The brand is still around, they still make them, but they're a little more high-tech now.

There's also a set of Illustrator plug-ins that have some similar effect. I can't recall what it's called though.

OK, I can't find anything about it on the internet, so crappy scribble ahoy...

It was all plastic and about 10 inches across. The outer casing was red and the inner plastic circles that were housed so that they would each rotate in the housing like a regular spirograph, but would not actually come out, were transparent grey. Those five grey circles had hundreds of different shaped holes cut out of them from large to pin ***** and you had to put your pen in a hole and trace the inside of the hole whilst pushing the wheel around in it's housing in like a rocking motion. It was tricky to get the hang of, but you came out with some wild stuff that was much more interesting than the regular spirograph.

eta-it won't let me add extra spaces!! Curses! I added a dash.

Don't be dissin' my spirograph, Frank. ;)

That looks pretty cool. Although I'm having a hard time visualizing the results.

I think Spirograph was kinda defined with the 60s. You saw it used everywhere then. Not so much in the 80s. You may have played with it in the 80s (because your parents had fun with it in the 60s ;)) but it really wasn't part of the 80s era.

Nope Kittie. It looked very simple. It was just one object that you could pick up that had no pieces that came out or accesories or anything. I'll have to ask my dad where he got it. It was awesome. Hopefully my younger sister still has custody of it.
