I made this design in Photoshop, I cant web it yet so I thought I could get some critique on it.
Is there too much open space on the left hand side? Is the colour ok?
Thanks!

I would have the links right-justified against the vertical bar, just like you have the text left-justified against it. That blank space in between bothers me. That would make the open space on the left easier to deal with.
The colors are good, but you might work on that "MS" logo. Perhaps make it an orange-yellow to complement the blue background. Right now it blends in too much. Overall a good start, though.

I honestly wouldn't bring so much attention to the fact that you don't have much experience in the field. I do like your set up tho. The colors work well together.

Its not going to be published so I was just finding words to fit in other than just using Lorem Ipsum.
Thanks for the feedback. Ill work on it now (:

Nice! I would tilt the sample images and perhaps have their corners hanging over the edge of the blue. It would add some energy to the layout.

You've got some good things going on here, really beautiful colors. But there are a few major things throwing it off. The composition in the second image is awkward in every aspect-- those pictures you threw down on the left don't fit at all. Without those (with a little tweaking of the about title) it'd have a nice flow. Also, you've added one too many colors. I'd either drop the yellow or drop the grey. It's usually a good idea to build your Web sites around the color of your logo, start from there-- don't throw it in as an after thought.
You're doing great for someone who's only 14, but be careful not to fall into trends. Don't get me wrong, trends are trends for a reason and we all use them some, but for someone who's just starting out it's a better idea (in my opinion) to start from the ground up. Develop your own unique style based on the fundamentals of design and your own experience-- then begin taking influences from other more popular styles.
