Hello everyone!
I've been hired to create a website, although I am actually a programmer, and not a designer or graphics artist. So I am a little reluctant to present my work here, because I know that most of you guys can do much better than me. But I still would like to know what you think about this animated GIF in the attachement to this thread.
It's a candle with an animated flame, floating on a cloud. Or at least that's what it's supposed to look like. I am quite satisfied with the candle and the flame, especially with the animation. But I am not sure about the cloud. The candle and the flame are photos, while I did the cloud myself in Photoshop. I wanted it to look fluffy, not like the standard clouds effect.
What do you think? Opinions are welcome! :)
candle and cloud-ish cotton ball thingy look fine... or at least they look like they came out the way you wanted them too.
But I didn't even notice the movement in the flame at first. I just think it needs to flicker and whip more.

Thank you, that's good to hear. My concern is that the cloud may not be realistic enough, compared to the candle and the flame. I think it looks a little too blury, and I am not sure about the glow around it. What do you think?

I think the issue is the cloud mass seems to small compared to the size of the candle. Like the nooks and crannies are teenie tiny and should be larger. :)

I have a phobia of candles... so this is hard to comment on...
Could you afford to try doing the cloud cartoony? Could you perhaps rescale the candle? Could you take a picture of real clouds and use that method.
could you please change the blue background....
buuuuuuuuuuuut and this is a major but, this just reminds me of late 1990's animated web gifs - ala Homer Simpsons own website (dancing baby) sorry... tis true!!!

The cloud looks more like cotton.

could you please change the blue background.... That's going to be difficult, because my customer seems to dislike all colors but blue... Besides, clouds are rarely seen on a green sky.

Maybe that's not enough to provide a good looking animated flame.
