Setting Up Home Page / Index - Please Help

This definitely qualifies as a rookie question, but I've established hosting services, and have access via FTP to transfer files to my server, and I've even created a quick page to upload.

My question now is, how do I get that file to be the default file that loads when someone types in my domain name? I've transferred the file itself to the server, but the site shows up as:

Index of /

and then bullet points of the folders or files within it. How do I point my domain name to the file I created?

name the file index.htm

You have to tell your domain host where/what server to ping for your home page when the domain name is typed in. Should be in your preferences/settings on the domain hosts site (atleast thats how it was for me).

Or default.htm
