Hey kids,

I just signed up for this forum having learned about it from Quipsologies. I feel a little embarrassed not having discovered it earlier — especially in light of the obvious name.

I've been looking for some more professional (serious) forums, having spent a lot of time on Photoshopcafe.com, which has been overrun by 14-year-olds from Singapore, and such. I visit HOW forums and Freelance Switch as well, so we'll see how much I can contribute.

So look out for me, and say hello. I don't bite.

Welcome Aboard Scott!!! :)

I can't guarantee how serious we will be .. but we are a great forum ;)

When you get settled please read through the threads located here (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=42). They will give you all the info you need on how the forum runs, the rules and regs, and give you some background info on our long running, inside jokes ;)

Welcome Scott!

You've been looking for a more professional forum... well you have come to the right place. In fact this is the most professional of all the professional profession forums out there. Heck we're so dog-gone professional that we don't just accept just any regular Joe of the web. So prepare for your testing, it will begin soon.

Here's what you can expect during your testing:

We'll start with a simple background check, which will include a screening with your department of homeland security, and double checked with some reliable sources in Poland.

We will take a blood sample (we prefer that you upload that via ftp) so be honest and upfront if there is anything we should know about.

Assuming you pass the blood test, we will as a community conduct a series of interviews to assure your worthy of such a forum.

The forum community will then send a representative to your home to ensure you can maintain acceptable living conditions, and to analyze your current diet (if food analysis remains unclear, a stool sample must be made available upon request. A properly contained stool sample should be packed on ice, inside an appropriate size soup thermos).

We will then sweep your music collection... we have a meticulous music identification team that will classify your music. If your music library is found to be horribly imbalanced you may be rejected. There is an appeals process for this portion of the test where-by you may ask for forgiveness and have a music supervisor assigned to you.

You will be asked to walk for a fashion expert who will report to us if there is cause for concern.

You will be asked to build a bird house... from one piece of driftwood. Must be able to fit a variety of birds, not just one type of bird.

We will send you to a foreign country and purposely force you into an uncomfortable situation... you will fail... and be imprisoned. You will then be interrogated and tortured. If you squeal, you FAIL!!

You will cook pancakes for the entire forum... they must all be served at the same time, hot, fresh, with melted butter and the syrup of choice for each forum member. I'll have some freshly tapped Maple please.

Should you somehow survive all of these tests', we'll be glad to take you in.

Good luck!

.

Welcome!
As a fellow newbie I have to say that this is a very friendly and helpful forum.

And as a Canadian I'll of course go with maple syrup as well, but I'd like to request that my pancakes be of the blueberry variety :)

Welcome, welcome, but I've got to wonder...

Why did you take the time to note the animated GIF, but overlook CNIC's detailed post about the "welcome process"???

I took that very seriously when I joined the forum last year. I had to search eBay, Google check out, etc. to find just the right soup thermos for my "on-ice" stool sample... I just want to make sure you doo-doo the same.

Again, welcome,
TheBest

I thought we did away with the stool sample after that horrible incident last spring. If we are still doing it I will no longer be able to accept them. Instead they will have to be sent directly to cnic. http://koolsplace.com/images/shocked011.gif

I don't like maple syrup. I prefer apricot or butter pecan, thank you very much.

Ya, I don't recall any stool sample requests when I recently joined. But make sure the pancake thing isn't lost, that was such a pain getting all the pancakes done at the same time, and hot! Especially with budafist being in the future and all.

I would like some bacon with my pancakes. With maple to dip them in.

Hi Scott. I hope you enjoy talking about stools, bacon and pancakes. Mostly the second two though.

Can you link to where you found us on Quipsologies? I go on that site often but don't remember seeing this forum on there.

Sorry about that incident last spring, Kool. If I'd known about that test, I wouldn't have gotten drunk and eaten $10 worth of Taco Bell the night before. :o
