problems releasing master objects - indesign cs3

:confused: hello out there! can anyone help me with this problem? I have never experienced it before! basically I have created a master with auto page numbers and a few basic objects on it. when i try to release one of the master objects on one of my spreads - by (ctrl/opt shift clicking it) the second i have selected the object my page numbers dissapear?? i have tried resetting preferances and exporting the file as an inx file and re-opening it...it still does it - HELP!!!

Do they disappear or vanish behind another layer?
I've had layers restack on me when releasing master objects on one page.

they just vanished! but i had a read in the help file...when in doubt!
i found a way to override the master objects on the spread as apposed to just releasing them - it seems to have worked! :@)
