Hi everyone.

Well I'm a graphic design student and I'm currently doing a portfolio to show some of my work in an interview for a job, any suggestions would be appreciated ;) .

These are some interior pages, almost all of them, I haven't made the cover yet. The size of each page is Statement, 8.5" x 5.5" (21.6 x 14 cms). The paragraph on the right is the title and explanation for each work, they are just random text right now, will write them later.

quick advice;
i think that stating your name large on every page will come across as a little pretentious!

Otherwise, I think that the size is a little small for a portfolio- if you want your work to come across as wow!, then you're being a little understating by keeping everything so small.. But that's just me, I like to show off my work larger than smaller.

I like the simple design, however..

maybe instead of having all the info on the right page, eliminate your name on every left page and have the info for the project there.

Oh.. and don't write such long paragraphs for your information, no one is gonna read it (unless they were really really bored at work that day like me today).. Keep the description really short and sweet. Easy!

k well that's it for my two cents man good luck with the interview let us know how it went

yeah, I think the size is a little small, but it is production cost-wise, I wish I could print that in A3 but it might be too expensive with a good paper especially with those full black left pages, again, I'm just an student :( . By the way, what's the average or recommended size for a printed portfolio???

You're right about the info text, they might be too long and boring, I may use Title, format, client (school ¿?, all of these works are academic) and just a sentence explaining the work.

I also gonna try the text in the left page, but i'm afraid that without the name it might be look too empty, but anyways I'm gonna try it ;)

thanks for your suggestions..

I would say A3 is an ideal size, still easily manageable, but big enough to showcase the work. I really don't like seeing your name on every page, having it on an entire page being bigger than any of the work shown

One thing that i don't see in your designs is color, most young designers stick to lot of black and dark colors, design is about colors as well as shape and space.

I got the job!!!

thanks for the help everyone, I ended up using almost every single one of the suggestions (left page name thing, format size, wall of text...) and turned out great.

I did a little of redisign to fit it in an A3 and it was a little expensive but it was worth it

the job is for a design about the history of the documentaries in colombia and it's sponsored by the government so it's kinda big deal to me, being just a young student.

thanks again for all your help :D ;)
