Hey, I am working on a logo for my one client, this is one of the first logos that I've done since school, so I'm a little rusty, and logos were never my strongest talent. So the company is called Onyx Pays it's a referral marketing company. The client started working on the site before they got the logo done so I am kind of limited to my colors and size. Anyway, let me know your thoughts! My favorite(s) are #3 and #2...

and some other options I was exploring a little in the beginning

Thanks :)

I prefer the very last (large) black one...

Agree with CkretAjint. The large black one at the bottom was the most appealing to me. I really like the font too. Good stuff

I found a great inspiration site.

I also agree with the others on this, stay away from complex shapes.

#1 or the Last one as Ckret pointed out. But the last one is the best, I would even reverse it...lose the box.

***Edit...Actually there is something too Nike-ish about that swoosh.

Nah, Nike's swoosh is smooth, that one is slightly jagged... ;)

aint that one kind of fringing off of the millennial swoosh?

I do like the crescent in the last one, the only thing is it looks kinda rough. The curves aren't smooth, I'm not sure if that is intentional or not.

Well I wasn't copying anything when I made 'em, mostly it was just messing around in illustrator.. I def. don't want any of them to look like another logo. #1 was supposed to represent a black onyx stone and the starburst was supposed to be like light reflecting off of it, should I thicken the thinnest part of the line so that it looks less like the nike swoosh?, after I was done with #3 I noticed it looked kinda like Infinity's symbol... any suggestions on what you would do differently to them?

The curves on the last one (black) was because I did it by hand, and I also just took quick screenshots of them last night just to get it posted.

Thanks for all your replies I appreciate the advice :)

I like the logo in the large black square. The font is unique but still readable and the graphic you made is quite nice. The only suggestion I would have is to make the width of the graphic the same width as the text.

don't worry about incorporating the curve into your text. Here is a logo i did for a client that demonstrates the effect.

I'll explore some more concepts with the large black box at the bottom, I guess I stopped because of the space available on the site design - it's horizontal so it wouldn't fit in correctly, I do like that font a lot too, I'll repost tonight after work

no3 is the one that's stuck to my head the best. And the sign of infinity kinda fits the purpose.

Here is the final logo... it was what the client wanted, do you guys still think it's successful?

The first concept was the closest to this, No wonder if your client unconsciously chose it. :)

If your client is happy then you should be happy. Remember not all projects goes in your portfolio if you prefer not to.

^agreed

It isn't going to win any awards, but is a print friendly logo and does work.

I like the #1 and the similar black version.

The problem I have with the first is I keep seeing ONYX "RAYS" Obviously the image is probably what is doing it but none the less something to think about. Have you triedpulling the type in and out to give each word some seperation from the other? Maybe move the ring to integrate with the words would give it a little shape.

Good work. I find when I work with logo ideas when I make similar versions of the same one I tend to get a bit frustrated.

woops Just say the final proof. Looks like it addressed both of my thouhgts. haha
I'll go hide now

The final one looks good (looks like one I made once, but never got into production - that had nothing to do with "my" logo, but the company decided not to go for that product anymore...)

That's a fault, it was supposed to use something considered good, and gain benefit from it.
