This chart pretty much sums it up.

Another evening wasted trying to figure out why my site looks perfecto in every browser across the board, with the exception of the crap heap that we call Internet Explorer.

Oh, you don't like absolutely positioned divs, Internet Explorer? Well how the hell am I supposed to know?

IE breaks just about every rule of web standards, chewing up code that validates 100% with W3C.

It is truly the Walmart of web browsers. A virus. An infestation. A rogue bastard that the masses have accepted because they don't know any better.

Rant over. Until tomorrow.

Since I just recently finished my site, I can completely agree with this chart! :)

Whenever you nest a absolutely positioned element inside a relative one that doesn't gain layout by default in IE you can save a lot of frustration using this hack.

/* \*/
* html .element {
height: 1%;
}
/* */

That hack will allow the element to gain layout. However, because elements in <= IE6 incorrectly expand to fit their contents the actual height will be not be effected.

I'm going to assume that was the problem…

I'm currently wallowing in my own IE-induced hell. I completely feel your pain and sympathize. Your chart there did make me laugh though, you know, before I went back to madly banging my head against the desk fighting with this CSS.
