Hi everyone - this is my first post here
I'm a web designer, not a graphic designer as such.
A client has presented me with a logo which he has drawn himself, for me (or another designer) to tidy up a little - attached to this post.
(The logo shows flower petals, lightning flashes and hands)
The organisation is the UK Polarity Therapy Association - see website here (http://www.ukpta.org.uk)
All comments welcome! :)

Not much to say when you haven't done any work on it yet. ;)
If you're looking for advice on how to proceed, the most common responses will be to A: continue with sketches of your own if you want to clean up the concept itself and B: Illustrator pen tool.

I'm pretty sure posting other peoples work to critique is against board policy. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

He doesn't really want it changed at all, just drawn better, I think!
As far as it being someone else's work, whatever is produced will be part of the website which I'm designing and will therefore become part of my work.
I'm really just looking for some general comments about it from some graphic design professionals.

that right there is too much. you need to be able to scale this down to fit on a business card remember. he needs to pic 1 of those and go with it. also remember that it should work in 1 color

Careful with that theology... that one could get you in trouble some day.
Good luck on the logo!

thanks cnic - what I meant is that the website I produce will represent me; plus, as far as the logo itself is concerned, I consider it to be a 'joint venture' with the client

If the client wants it, draw it up in Illustrator. But as a professional I have to disagree with their opinion of a "good" logo.

It is against forum policy to post someone else's work for critique, but I took it as a hired designer looking for advice on how to proceed with what was given.
I don't want to comment on the drawing itself as it would be critiquing someone else's work, but the whole concept does seem quite busy. I suggest drawing up with your own ideas that simplify the concept(s) given by the client. From there, recreate the best ones in Illustrator. Though as Ckret says, if the client is only going to pay for you to draw it up in Illustrator, then do just that. Not worth it to try to reinvent his logo if he has his heart and wallet set on just getting his drawing cleaned up.

I think a simplified drawing of the flower motif could be nice. One potential problem I see could be that there is TOO much text around the illustration. Not much more to say at this point.
