Hi! I was handed this job with literally no guidelines except for the shape of the label. Its a mexican native liquor, so i kept the design very rustic/old looking, but clean and fresh in its text. There are some communication barriers between the client and I, so I'm turning here for thoughts on the design! thanks!
I like the colors very well. I like the agave imagery as well...fits nicely. I wouldn't mind seeing how that would look a bit larger. I am not liking the D and O in Don Rodolfo though. Have you printed one out to see how it will look on a bottle?

Other than color scheme, I'm not really getting an old world feel. I know you mentioned "clean and fresh in its text" which I don't think is bad, but maybe you could work in just a few details or interesting little flairs into it. It just seems a little bit sterile like it's missing something.
It's hard to tell at this size, but are the 3 agave plants different images or the same one repeated 3 times? Maybe it's just me, but it always bugs me when I see obviously duplicated items.
Have you gone to a liquor store display to see what it will be up against? Maybe that can help in choosing something that looks right for tequila, but will still stand out on the shelf.

Do you know what the retail price will be?
That will really help us critique it appropriately...

its a non-tequila product thats most popular in Central-southern mexico, so going to liquor stores in Boston hasn't given me a good sense of who there up against :) I agree, a little 'flaire' would probably give it a fuller look. Thanks!

Im not liking the gradient.
I would lose it or change color. I would consider making the maroon a bit more brown, that might help the rustic looking.
Like the rest of it though, nice stuff.

yup, tequila is made with ONLY blue agave. All other agave-based liquor is called Mezcal. Fun fact of the day.

I like the look of this, but I do agree on jazzing up the font a bit - especially for Don Rodolfo. Ditto on the duplicated agave plants - can you find more interesting artwork. Something a bit livelier or more detailed? Otherwise I like the color scheme.

rather than just a simple coloured gradient background, some texture may give it that little something it needs. Nothing to obnoxious or strong, but something that fits in with the rustic look. a hint of wood grain maybe....or something to that effect.
And I've got to agree, I dont' like the larger D and O on the bigger label.

I agree that making the agave graphic larger will help fill up all the space. Maybe large enough that some of the plant leaves overlap a small part of the Don Rofoldo name. but not too much you don't want to cover too much of the brand name. But that might help give a little bit more dimension.
I does feel a bit steril but not too bad. Agreed though, if those are duplicated plants... alter them in PS to make them look natural and different.

I'm not a fan of the super thick border. It will die cut, so a border is only useful if it serves an aesthetic purpose. I thin line about 5mm in might look good.
I also think that the cactus image may look better as an illustration rather than a photo. The label has the old world vibe going on as far as colours and typefaces go, which makes the photo look very modern and out of place. I would try to keep it all looking like it could have been produced on an old, old press - like a wanted poster in a cowboy movie.
Wow...nice work! I agree with others...it all needs to be a bit 'larger'. Too much label and not enough graphics.
And I also agree that a cool line drawing of the agave plant would fit the bill rather nicely. if not, the agave plants need to be a bit darker as they get lost amidst all the other text.
Good luck with this and keep us informed as to how it turns out.
By the way...I'm a lover of Sammy Hagar's 'Cabo Wabo' tequila...good stuff. And his packaging/labeling is cool too.

I really like the colour scheme you have used, and the image group in the middle (the 3 plants with the scroll). Someone already mentioned this but the fact that the plants are duplicated makes it seem a bit unproffesional, maybe you could try simply warping the smaller ones to make them look unique. Although I'm loving the gradient colors, I think its a bit too clean cut, maybe you could add some texture to it, a faint crumpled paper overlay maybe? The Don Rodolfo text is also a bit simple, even just a drop shadow to add a bit more detail to it, or a nice texture. I really like how its coming on though!
