I have a layout, which due to folding, has some sections which are upside down from others. Is there a way to rotate the view 180 degrees to work on the upsidedown parts without actually rotating all the objects on the page? I guess I can make a separate file which saves everything rotated, and then combine at the end, but it would be nice to work on it all together. Any ideas?
Thanks
Mark

I would make each section on a different layer. Then just lock all except 1 panel, select all and rotate 180°. When complete re-rotate and then lock and unlock another layer/panel to work on.

I take it grouping and rotating won't work?

I can group and rotate, yes. But I guess I was looking for a view rotate function, like Acrobat has, where you can turn the workspace as you please, leaving all objects in place on the page. Rotaing objects changes the rulers so the reference points all change.

If you're on fairly recent Mac, you can rotate the screen 180º.

The problem with this is that moving the mouse up (away from you) still moves the mouse up on the screen, which, being rotated is actually down. And left and right are 'reversed' as well. I think I'd get a headache trying to work that way.
Personally, I use Ckret's solution.

Why, thank you Danger Mouse! ;) :p
It's actually pretty funny to do this to a co-worker's monitor when they're at lunch.
*DISCLAIMER: Pranking a co-worker is acceptable in my department. Your mileage may vary. Check your HR manual so you don't get fired, mmm'kay?*

Wow, I don't think I could work for a company that doesn't allow pranks... That's just uber lame!

We tease each other a lot here but we don't set up any elaborate pranks like rotated screens.

Ckret, I posted one of my other favorite pranks here a couple of months ago, and PrintDriver reminded me that not every company would look kindly on it, as it would lower productivity. I don't remember which prank it was...I have so many! :D

me too, might just be your display that allows it then? extra drivers installed?

FTR, most Windows vid card drivers these day will also support monitor rotations. In fact, I used this just the other day with a new secondary LCD I installed. Fringe benefit: by rotating my secondary monitor, I gained about another inch of 'active' Wacom pad real estate (as the proportional mapping of the tablet is now mapping to a narrower total desktop).

Thanks Broacher, the only Windows box I work on these days is a little administrative machine running Windows 2000.
That's an interesting technique, rotating the secondary... :)

Thanks for the pranks, and the suggestions. The monitor mode is too freaky to work with (before 2am, anyway), so it's group and rotate for now.

I also like Ckret's idea of putting the groups on separate layers. That way you won't grab any extra bits by mistake. :) Good luck!

Yeah nothing worse than quickly rotating something, completing 3 hours of work on it and then realizing you grabbed something from somewhere else and deleted it, and there is no 'undo' from 3 hours ago. *sigh* Been there, done that, NOT fun!
