I'm tring to get an image in photoshop to permanently hold one of it's blending modes. The image is on a dark background and the blending mode is set to darken. Now I want that image to actually be the way it looks so I can apply other effecs to it. If apply a brighten to the image, it brightens the whole image, not just the area that appears when the blending modes is set to darken.

Hope this makes some sort of sense,

Joe

Merged the top image, to a new blank layer.

So it's like:

Image mode picture layer
+ new blank layer

'flattened' layer with "normal" .

Sounds like you could use an adjustment layer on top of your other 2 layers. If you need it to only apply to one of the layers, you could create a clipping mask so it only 'sticks' to one specifically.

Unless I'm not reading the question correctly.
