Every pancaking time I go to generate the document indesign crashes on me. Last time this happened it was a master page item that was causing the problem, but now there was absolutely nothing left except for one paragraph style of the item I need in the table of contents, and it still blows up on me. Any takers?

• Do a Save As... to save a new copy of the document. That sometimes blows some crap out.

• If that doesn't work, Save as an InDesign Interchange file (.inx). Then use File > Open to open the .inx in Indy.

• Trash your preferences. Launch Indy, then hold down Cmd-Opt-Shft-Ctrl and Indy will throw up a dialog box asking you if you want to delete prefs.

What version of Indy are you using?

Try them in that order, Op. Trashing your prefs is pretty destructive if you've saved a lot of custom page sizes, etc.

I keep a backup prefs file just for that kind of instance. Not sure if that saves custom page sizes though.

I know the prefs are stored in several different places. I'm not sure what's where, though. The Adobe U2U forums might have more information...

I think it's the one in User>Library>Preferences>Adobe InDesign>Version 5.0>InDesign Defaults.

That makes sense.

I remember the Quark days, when I backed up the Prefs file daily. 'Cause of the constant crashing. ;)
