Hi,

I have an .jpg image made in layers, but the layer is locked so I'm unable to edit, how can I unlock the layers?

Any help or advice would be most appreciated!

If you're referring to the "background" layer you can double click it, turning it into layer 0 and then you're good to go.

Sorry I forgot to say I am using Photoshop CS3, I've tried double-clicking on the image but nothing happens...

Not the image, the layer in your layers palette. I'm running Photoshop CS3 as well.

ok, I've managed to get this far, what I have is a background image with text on top, what I would like to do is replace the text, do you know if this is possible?

Do you have 2 layers? Or just 1?

Chances are that since you have a JPG (only 1 layer), it is a flattened file and you cannot edit it. You would need the original PSD file that contains all the layers.

Is the text touching the image underneath?

Is the text touching the image underneath?

No its directly in the middle, its my current header for my website, and the designer said they haven't got the original and it would cost $20 for them remove the text :(

I think it would be worth $20.

OK, I've got the header sorted and I redesigned the text, how can I now lock all the layers, and compress the image, so that I'm ready to upload?

No need to lock the layers. Keep the layered Photoshop (.psd file) for future editing, and Save a Copy as a flattened format for your intended use. The filetype for the flattened format depends on its use and medium.
