Hi There.
I have been working on a logo for my home business. I do electrical design, programming and drafting for industrial customers. I also work on 3D animation and such as a hobby and would like to expand my business (in the future) into that field. So I would like to use the logo for both sides of my little company, if possible.
I plan on using the logo on company headers (faxes and documents etc.), business cards, website, and watermarks.
Please let me know your opinion of what I have come up with so far, and any suggestion you might have. So far number 10 - 12 are my favourites. I am still not 100% sure about using color in the logo.
Sorry if the design is very amateur, I am in no way a graphic design guy. /emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Looks like a good start and these are useable.
For me, when I start producing a lot of designs all very similar, and can't choose between them, it means I'm getting stuck and I could do with trying different ideas

i like #14, But try another font.
i had to find paw in the babelfish, my vocabulary is broken.

I like both11 and 14. The black font with the red image seems to have more of an impact.

You might play around with the paw design part a bit more. With the sharp claw parts/points on it, it reminds me more of a claw than a paw (and paw seems more customer friendly than claw).

I was thinking about your Paw, so i made this using the Paint brush (Not too much stuff). In my first post i said to change the font, but i change my mind.
I made a compact version of the #13, #14 logo, looking for some impact and balance as topics...
Thinking about your brief, the electrical, and using the logo in the future, doing 3D work, i start playing with the paw and in the second jpg. using the paw vertically flipped, maybe it´s me http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/blink.gif but i still see a Paw and i watch a moderm kind of robot from the future, and i think this could work, helping you to continue developing your brand.
Hope this helps you.http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/thumbsup.gif

Wow thanks for all the responds.
ikyut - I was actually thinking about trying the same thing today, but I didn’t think of using the horiz. line. Thanks for doing it for me. /emoticons/thumbsup.gif It was mentioned in another forum that the PAW image runs vert. while the font is horiz and this creates a problem. Laying the logo out like you did seems to fix that.
John - I agree the PAW image looks very claw or skeleton like. I actually used an image of a dogs print, traced the outline and then made each side symmetrical so it is fairly close to the real thing. I assume to make it friendlier I would need to make it rounder?
Thank to everyone else that posted their choice.
When using color in the logo, should I highlight the font or the image? I think highlighting the image makes it stand out more against the font. Right or wrong? Also what about the color I used? Is the red any good or would another color be better?

Is the red any good or would another color be better? The image itself is pretty basic, so bump up the stylization on the font. And if your going to be using these for business cards, faxing, and stuff.. make sure the logo works in B&W, you can only get B&W from faxes.

What about trying to use the inverted paw as an inverted 'A' in the word paw? Is that too much of a stretch?

everytime i see this paw, i think of the old 'Bear Cover' logo from surfing in the late 80's early 90's. Might want to avoid coming across as that kind of market, and I agree on the making it look more paw like, and less claw like.

I like #12 & #14.
I don't really care for the paw though. It looks wicked somehow or skeletal. Maybe it is just Halloween creeping up on me.

If I remember right from girl scouts (and yes, it was a LOT of years ago!) cats have retractable claws that don't leave marks in their tracks. Dogs / wolves and the like all show claws in their prints.
Maybe you could try to put a little less emphasis on the claws? Check out these images:

Thanks for the all input.
I tried to combined ikyut idea with morea idea of replacing the A.
I am working on changing the paw/claw.
Let me know what you think of the new layouts. To me it looks like PW design, but maybe that is just me.. /emoticons/biggrin.gif

I think the PAW needs to be somewhere else and the A needs to be in there. Can you enlarge the paw and screen it back behind the lettering?

yeah it reads too much as PW design. try cutting the paw image out of the letter A /emoticons/eyecrazy.gif

I would work with the paw more and less with the type. the paw is a very visual image and you want that to stand out. right now it isn't.

Treat yourself like a client, you dont bring 15 samples to a client you bring them about 3 good designs let them choose what they like and go from there, I couldnt even look through them there are way to many everything just molded into one big blob
pick 3 you like, then work on color schemes, and different positioning
