What about among professionals? Or would a well paid person who should be a professional, not be a professional if they plagarize?

Boy, that would be one hell of a hard thing to research, wouldn't it? Or would it? Who would admit it?

So don't write about it then. Pick another topic for your paper.

I can't recall the name but I know there is a blog out there that documents plagiarized or at least borrowed works. Might be a good way to go about defining plagiarism among professionals, or at least within the industry. (as opposed to high schoolers with PS) Either that or narrow it down to a specific part of the industry like web design or print or apparel design or something.

you might be thinking about something that "Vonster" Von Glishka had out a couple years ago when they found plagarized pieces on the Logow__ks site.

What better topic than marketing! Write it around marketing using visual aids and what impacts they have on a company's ability to sell product. As a graphic designer, you're job is mainly that of a marketing specialist. I am sure there are those lucky few who have managed to make a career out of doing what they want, when they want. But the other 98% of us use our talents to help other businesses.

Whether you create a nifty looking t-shirt to promote a band or you develop a 4,000 page website, complete with Web 2.0 friendly glassy flashing neon green rollover buttons, you are selling "their" image. Watch TV for one hour and DON'T turn the channel when the commercials come on. Dissect them and use them to create your dissertation.

Here is my suggestion; if given only one tool to market a company or product, (printed materials, web, television, word of mouth, etc.) which would you choose and why? Why, in your opinion, does one overshadow the others? How can we as graphic designers, help push boundaries and create a new medium for advertising?

Good luck,
R.

Amen. A graphic design major and no clue for a dissertation. So what you're telling us is you've learned nothing.
