In Indesign, if I have a shape with a dashed line on it, how do it get the dashes to appear the same (only smaller) when I resize?
The top shape is the original shape with dashed lines and the bottom shape is what it looks like when I resize it smaller. The dashes change in a way that I don't want them to! I want the dashes to also resize and look "the same" in relation to the black rectangle.

So you want to keep the same stroke weight? I think you need to uncheck Scale Strokes and Effects when you scale with the scale tool.
Edit: It's in a different spot, in the control strip flyout menu.

Yup. You may need to adjust the dash length and in-between length, too.
Urst, you are teh bomb! :D

No, I want the stroke to be scaled but also want the dash values and gaps to be scaled too. So that the little box look exactly the same as the big box but smaller. At the moment the stroke thickness is reducing but the dashes have stayed the same values as the big box.
This is doing my head in!

If I have to work out the values of the dashes in the small box, I would have to do this by maths? I hate maths! I might just copy and paste this into Illy and treat it like an image. That might be easier.

Ah, okay, I misunderstood you, sorry. When I scale a dashed line box using the scale tool (not the selection tool), I think it accomplishes what you're looking for.

Actually, now I'm confused, using the selection tool seems to accomplish the same thing. So maybe I'm missing something about how you're going about it?

Maybe my computer is playing tricks on me. I ended up saving it as an eps and rescaling that. It also means I can use in other things too. It will do.

I think I might have an idea. When you scale the box with the selection tool, are you just holding down Shift or Command+Shift? Command+Shift scales everything down the way you seem to want.

I'm so stupid. When I posted about the dash and gap lengths above I was thinking of Illy, not Indy. Please excuse the brainfart.
