29. if you're new to this site, you might have to configure your preferences so that you don't receive unwanted notifications. A look over this thread (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28801) should explain everything.

27. If you'll pardon the noobish question, what's the story behind that kid?

29b. the kid registered for GDF (age 13), asked a couple of questions, told us that he had more fonts than all the rest of us combined, and then started a website offering "professional logos" for $5 US. MD and Neballer made a bet on a football game on the condition that the loser would buy a $5 avatar from said kid and use it as their avatar for at least a month... and the rest is history.

Here's one of the questions (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11154)...

And shortly thereafter, Guru posted a new thread about an interesting communiqué via email:

Alright, someone emailed me a weirdo message through my website, and and should be publicly whipped with a spoon. Who was it????????? It was one of the following...

1. morea

2. MD

3. any other GDF members

(From 13yrGuru)

Dear Pedo,

Thank you for your information regarding a 5 dollar logo created by DS design.
You have ordered the following things:

1. Pedo-Files
2. Pedo-Files Office Organizational

This total adds up to 10 dollars.

We would like to further know your business or organization. Please email us back answering some of the following questions.

Would you like to prefer some colors in your logo?

What will these logos be used for?

How did our find our website?

Thank you for considering our services, Here is the breakdown of how we work. First, you filled-out a form on <website>. then, we reply (this email). Then you specify some of your answers. After that, we design your logo, and when we are done we will give you a preview. If you like it, you will send money in the mail to the following address:

<Name>
<Address>

When we receive your payment we will email you the logo.

Please reply to this message as soon as possible, we are excited to do business with you. Thank you.

(From my alias Pedo Gonzalez)

I am sorry I only wanted 1 logo I accidentally sent it twice.

What I want is my company name Pedo-Files with a smaller Since 1971 under it.

I was thinking maybe a baby blue would be a nice color.
The logo will be used on business cards that I will hand out at conferences like nambla, and an upcoming website that maybe you could design if I like your logo.

A friend of mine sent me the link and I do not know where he got it from. I started this company after my son died in a horrific train accident in 1971, so as a tribute maybe a stylized picture of a kid playing might be in order. Other than that information it's all really up to you, after all you are a professional. What is the timeline for me to get my preview?

Pedo Gonzalez
Owner, Pedo-Files

(Found out) You logo offer has been rejected. Your from GDF.

I thought this would be an appropriate ending to this crazy thread/week.

13yrGuru is like the little brother of this forum. Always trying to be just like you, asking dumb questions, and generally annoying the hell out of you while you're hanging out with your friends. So we do what all big brothers do.....constantly tease him and beat the pancake out of him every chance we get. But when push comes to shove and he needs some sage like advice & information - we are always there to answer and help...... followed up with a brotherly nipple twister or pink belly.

Thanks Guru for being such a good sport.
I am still waiting for my logo :D

I'm hyperventilating Morea!!! Actually, if you call it that, and advertise it, maybe people would go outside more to see what this "meatspace" is all about. But then they'd get attacked and Nommed by Virgo. Hmm.

morea
10-01-2008, 08:27 PM
we just have to convince Virgo that not ALL meat is for eating.

Week-old roadkill, for example, is technically meat, but I wouldn't recommend eating it.

tuliptree
10-01-2008, 08:29 PM
What about 4 day old road kill?

What number are we on now, by the way? I liked your ordered post numbers, Morea, I feel all out of sorts now.

morea
10-01-2008, 08:31 PM
aw, that whole numbering thing was just to fake "officialness" for the petition... but now that the avatar has been restored, and also considering that the mathiness got to be a little much for my brain, I figured we could drop it.

There are, however, post numbers in the upper right hand corner of each post, so my numbering idea was an exercise in redundancy. :D

Typically
10-01-2008, 08:32 PM
What about 4 day old road kill?

it all depends on what the road kill is and where it is. i would say animals hanging out by camp sites would be good for a few extra days because they eat all the left over crap and would absorbed the preservatives in turn preserving them =]

vtwin_gary
10-01-2008, 08:34 PM

morea
10-01-2008, 08:35 PM
personally, I don't think I could eat roadkill no matter HOW old it was*, for the same reason that I can't hunt my own food: when you buy meat from the grocery store, it looks like a product, not an animal. I couldn't eat meat if I had seen it in person or been friends with it when it was alive.

*unless somebody else cleaned it up and turned it into something that did NOT look like an animal.

tuliptree
10-01-2008, 08:42 PM

9. I'm funny as hell. Sometimes.

8. I'll shower you with compliments, even when you don't want them. Lookin' sexy there, btw...

7. I'm short, so if you're tall and I stand next to you, you can use my head as an armrest.

6. I've been waitressing for over 17 years, so if you need me to fetch you a beer, I'll probably just do it out of ingrained habit without complaint. I might expect a small tip each time though.

5. I have a nice butt. You can look at it. I'm married now though, so it would have to be clothed. Sorry.

4. I'll try my best to never ban you. I can't however guarantee that another mod won't...

3. I'm a fantastic belcher. Think Booger in Revenge of the Nerds: I'm almost there.

2. I'm taking Muay Thai kickboxing. That makes me cool.

9. I'm mostly just funny to myself. Sometimes.

8. I'll shower.

7. I'm on the low side of average height, so if you're tall and want to stand next to a guy that is 5'10", there you go.

6. I was never a waiter, so if you need me to fetch you a beer, I probably won't. As a bonus you won't have to tip me

5. I have a nice butt. You can look at it. I'm married now though, so it would have to be clothed. Sorry.

4. I can never ban you unless for some strange reason I become a mod, then I might make you grovel a bit...but not too much...you could have Fridays, weekends, and federal holidays off.

3. I'm a fantastic belcher. Admittedly I'm a little out of practice and now that I'm not a teenager anymore, a prolonged burping session and repeatedly pulling that much air into my stomach to power kick-ass burps is going to leave me hurting more than it used to.

2. I have a large collection of Atari 2600 games. That makes me cool. It does too! Oh yeah???!!! Well screw you!!!!

How about a new petition ... to get on my super exclusive GDF friends list. I will need multiple reasons why you think you should be added. Currently I have 7 positions available.

i'm sorry tea that drops you a few places on the list.

I am a firm believer that cake > pie

Shit.

speaking of cake .. I just made a triple layer white cake with milk chocolate frosting drizzled in fudge sauce and covered in M & M's

A favorite of the nieces and today was her birthday.

So I can bake cakes if that counts :D

Since apparently the mainstream media also believes that pie > cake, it would appear that Tea's and my views paint us as members of the pie-wing media, an elitist group completely out of touch with Joe Cake Pack. Therefore, both Tea and I are out of touch with what GDF, as voiced by Joe Cake Pack, really wants. We understand, in our mainstream majority way, that you are part of the thus-far misunderstood Joe Cake Pack, and thus will respectfully keep to ourselves in our Pie-elite world, here on the East Coast, which neither of us lives on, but where we apparently live due to our Pie-elitist views.

Tea, wanna exercise our Pie-Elite privileges over a nice slice of arugula pie and a latté, or some Earl Grey? :o

Seriously? I'm honored!

Just a sec though...RKK Red Velvet...yea...always a good one, but I'm going to throw down my Italian Cream Cake.

Back to pie. Arugula pie? I'm game and a latte please.

I prefer teh term "crustian". I say, Crustian forever! Take that you cakeists!

Unfortunately, I guess this takes me out of the running for MD's friends. I wish I could convert, but sadly, I cannot foresake my lovely chocolate silk pie. I know this will probably be one of my biggest regrets, but I must stand my crusty ground. I'll miss you, MD....:(

Hahaha Yoss! Much to my mom's dismay, my dad and his best friend when I was growing up taught my sister and I to burp with the best of them. Unfortunately, my daughters now have a skewed vision of what being a dainty flower is all about. lol.

Ok, we've got pie and cake creating a divide, how about mayo/hellmans? Let's see some condiment debate! :D

I'm a MW girl, but can I just say that the name Miracle Whip is a rediculous sounding name for a product!! Duke, Brie? I've never heard of it. A third party condiment!

I grew up in a traditional Miracle Whip home. After getting out on my own and being exposed to a wider variety of condiments, I've discovered that I find Mayo and Miracle Whip equally enjoyable.

tuliptree
10-03-2008, 02:51 PM
Wow! I haven't met many people who like both. Then there are those who can't even say the word mayonaise without gagging. I know a few of those, too.

I don't know that I've ever even tried Miracle Whip. I like Hellman's, but I've conditioned myself to only like it when there's very little of it on my sammy. If I take a bite and a mouthful of mayo comes out, it kinda icks me out. I just like a tiny little bit, just enough for a hint of flavor and moisture.

I couldn't bear the thought of ruining a sandwich with Miracle whip .. but then when I moved down south .. MW seems to be a favorite of most vs Mayo.

So I got used to MW and do like it now and again. I introduced them to Mayo in my salads .. it was quite a bridging of the condiments :D
