I hate to say this..... but the dog looks like clip art..... (ducks)

I like your colour scheme but maybe you've got a few too many shades.

Do you have any other versions? I like the color scheme as well, but the type and image combo just aren't doing it for me.

I actually like the dog... but Io agree about the text...very bland compared to the dog.

'I will become the most powerful Jedi ever!'
'I'm the damn designer, bitches!'

The dog has a feeling of being alive, which is eye-catching.
Maybe try integrating the image with the text in some way?
The stroke on the words 'Dirty Dog' makes the edges look a bit undefined.

I actually thought of that same type text yesterday, I got a chance today to try it.

Opinion?

funky cute little dog :)

something about the font and dog dont quite gel for me though. i'm not fond of the font, i think more of a block lettering font would suit, but very dirty..grungey.

i would make the dog grungey too.

love the colour scheme - i think thats perfect !

I'm not keen on the three lines. IMHO they give the logo an art deco feel when what I think you're after is a grungy/dirty feel. Try dropping the lines.
Cheers

I like the dog, he looks a cheeky little bugger!

Definately drop the lines (it does water it down, and has no reason to be there in my opinion) and if you can't drop the text 'design firm' rework them back into the design. As said try and make the text gel better, maybe by using a 'cleaner' font with a uneven keyline, like the keyline the dogs has???

Also if it is a logo, try and work it using the actual Pantones you would use if you went to print. And try and keep it to 1 black and 1 or 2 biege, by all means use tints of the beige sparingly but it just doesn't seem to totally gel at the moment.

the new type works WAY better with the illustration. I also agree on loosing the lines though they don't add anything and probably hnder more than help the design. Kirby good call on the deco feel, thats what I was not digging before.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice…ummn…you don't fool me again?

Style of the font and image don't fit in the new version. Keep trying.

I wasn't digging the first choice (dog seperate from words), but I think the other design (dog between 'Dirty' & 'Dog' looks really good, really 'authentic'.

take out the lines makes it look to boxy,
the dog does not look clip art it looks good
work on type and color schemes
maybe bring the type behind the dog
put some motion in the type

Two more designs I threw together...

Maybe it's just me, but there's just something inappropriate about the particular shade of brown you're using for the text and 'dirty dog', if you get my drift... it's just a bit too, er... 'realistic'.

I see what you mean, it's not meant for it to look like that. LOL. But I am glad you pointed it out.

I wouldn't worry about color yet...make it work in black and white, then color later.

I like Dirty Dog 4 or 5

I think bright colors cus the first thing I thought of was smeared dog poop LOL. The dogs cool, but does it have to be like brown? Try other styles see what it looks like, red maybe? Get away from dog poop theme LOL! Nice logo though with tweaking. /emoticons/smilewinkgrin.gif

I think #7 is getting there, looking really good, now, do you really think this has been ripped off from dog pile or do you think that maybe it's a piece of clipart?

What do I look like a smoken monkey?

yeah that was the first thing I noticed -- its the dogpile dog.

but anyway, drawing an insane ratty little dog isn't hard, so the concept is still good.

i like the dog between the words, with the suave font underneath

the funky 'design firm' font just looks dorky with the grunge 'dirty dog' font.

the elegant design firm font rocks with the grndge 'dirty dog' font

the whole thing still reminds me of poop, but hey, they ain't selling food, so I don't care.

I think you're getting there, but you still need to play around with the positioning of the the art and the words. You don't want the dog, or the words to be too small when the logo is shrunk down to a usable size, so try to proportion them appropriately.

You also may want to change the dog (or at least alter it a bit) to distinguish from the dogpile logo. As everyone else said, it is very similar. (Even if it's not ripped off.)

This is not for a customer. I am a student and was mainly concerned with the work AROUND the dog. The text and the meaning it portrayed. I pentooled the dog from clipart very quickly, because he wasnt my main concern. SHOULD HAVE STATED THAT ON MY FIRST POST, SORRY.

But I was concerned more with the entire layout of the logo and the overall look and feel.

This logo will never be used by me, it was just omething I was playing around with to get some ideas of what the feel of this type of logo was.

Needs revision, too much like DP logo if not the same. I said use a flat (2d) dog in a diff color more square maybe.
