I'm new here. I made this for a t-shirt designing project for my 9th grade graphic arts class. I just started this whole graphic design thing in September. There are really no guide lines to this project, except that we can only use 2 colors (not including white) and it has to be school appropriate. This is what I made from scratch, it goes where a regular pocket would on a shirt. I'd like to hear any comments or suggestions any of you have, thanks.http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/thumbsup.gif

Hey cousin, do not feel bad, or worried, i like the idea, but the problem is that the image is too pixelate, i think it is a good start.

Does your school have Adobe Illustrator?

Dont' worry about ppl responding - we're in and out a lot around here. How did you set up the file? What program?
I like the way you have the pens in the pocket, and I think that it's a cute idea. Not really sure about the bottom of the pocket being pointed, the ones I see are usually rounded or straight at the bottom. Overall though, neat concept.
Congrats on getting an early start in the field!

at my highschool photo class was split half b+w photography and half graphic arts where you did silkscreening and made plates to run on the school presses to make the school hallpasses and whatnot.
we have psp8, photoshop cs, and illustrator at school, and I have psp8 at home

You might want to round the corners on the bottom - I think that would look great!

If you use illustrator to create your image you won't get that pixelation.
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice…ummn…you don't fool me again?

It's a great concept and it's getting close, but I was wondering, and it may bejust me, but every time I look at the design I see cigars in that pocket.
Maybe if the clips overlap the top line of the pocket like the attachment...
Edit: sorry morea...I deleted my post to make an adjustment.

I don't really know how to use illustrator yet, I'l play around with it next time I have graphic arts. I like the extended pen clippy things, but can you tell me how many pixels you used to border the clip?

Sorry, but not exactly...something like two or three with a square tip. It shouldn't be too difficult...try three and if it doesn't work...undo. Good luck and nice job, Jay! http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/thumbsup.gif

I think that last one looks great - still a little pixelated though.

Is there any way to get it not so pixelated without using illustrator

I guess if you had to design it in raster formet and you made the original image at least as big as it will be printed it would be okay.
Check out the vector / raster thread here for a better explanation. www.graphicdesignforum.com/default.aspx?f=36&m=20303 (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/default.aspx?f=36&m=20303)
Here's another good one on DPI and resizing, too. www.graphicdesignforum.com/default.aspx?f=36&m=34385 (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/default.aspx?f=36&m=34385)

tip number 1) don't use comic sans (first post text)... ever
tip number 2) maybe throw us some other ideas - if the idea is to convey 'official nerd' on a t-shirt how many ways can this be done (BTW i like the iea you have especially if you were going to print at actual pocket size)
tip number 3) have more of a play..get violent even.. what font select best conveys sense of the word 'official' and 'nerd'
tip number 4) just cos you can use 2 colours or a zillion fonts doesnt mean you should.. your idea might actaully be stronger in only black and white..
PS dont have a grading system over here.. how old is 9th grade?
good luck
