I'm trying to sort out the lower half of this web page sketch. I'm happy with the coloured boxes but it's tricky underneath them because they are such a strong block. I need to tie the full layout together more somehow - any ideas?
I quite like the stars but the rest of the lower layout is a bit weak.

Either one is fine. You need to get this thing rolling. It's looking very good, but I think that when you spend this much time on the first page, your asking to confuse yourself. Try going on to your other pages and using this layout, it looks really good. From what I can see you are doing variations of the original design. I think your at a place where you can move on now, the colors are good, the intro is good and the information is good. I like the fact that it is about a two click page.
What do I look like a smoken monkey?

Thanks for the advice I think you're probably right.
I'm adjusting it a bit because the client wanted to add the bit about student discounts so I wanted to put it in for him to see.
Anyway you're right I need to move on now. Thanks.

I think the upper part is very very great and the part below too but it 'brakes the line' of the page. I think there's no connection between the two parts. especially i like the navigation with different colors. its very clear and everybody understands the navigation easily. very good idea. I don't know if my eyes are 'confused', but i think the picture in the red part is a bit too high. Go on with the rest. I want to see the finished page! i hope u understand my english. cu

Maybe you could try toning down that red and green in the uppe half. Or, alternatively, do something about that beige. And that background blue? All these very large blocks with such a range of strong hues can be very tricky to hold together without tipping the balance. I think you need to be careful that these large backgrounds areas don't overpower the whole page. I see what you're doing with these border/backgrounds but the area is so big-- what would happen if instead of going for matching the photo main colours you went to a complementary scheme? This would 'break' these large colours more so that they don't overpower everything else on the page (including the top mountain pic). Just a thought.

I see so have a predominantly green photo in the red area, for example? I hadn't thought of that.
DjTiesto87 (what a name!) I think you are right about the red photo being too high.
Thanks for the ideas.
