Hello,
As you can see I'm a new member here. I have been in the printing industry for several decades, and seen alot of changes. My expertise has been basiclly pre-flight, little or no design involved. But I have seen my share of design mistakes and layout problems that I do fix and share with our customers without calling them dumb. I like what I do that has what keept me in it for soo long. Now it is time to progress. I want to get a better grasp on the design part of the business. So basiclly I can be a better service at work and, best yet get a start on a home business. I have done some work at home mostly one time kinda stuff for friends, and some for profit.
My question is what could you recommend reading? Or just a good place to start.

Be sure to have a transparent layer in Photoshop, and save as a .psd file, it should show up correctly in illustrator, just be sure to make what you want to be white, white.

I'm having a time trying to get logo's from photoshop into illustrator. The white backgrounds keep coming even when erased. Could someone please direct me to the raster v. vector link that I've heard about here?

Hint: in Windoze ;) : create a separate folder for things like ID, PS, Porn (oops), etc.... and drop the links corresponding to them

I do that, Graphix, and I still have trouble finding my bookmarks. Especially the porn ones, which I leave discreetly littered throughout all of my folders, with special code names which I instantly forget. :D
