Could someone give me a complete overview of ALL the different fileformats (extensions) that can be opened/imported and saved/exported in the latest version of Corel Draw (Graphics Suite 12)?
Thanks!

Corel also Exports to PDF, only it's called PDF Publish. (With many more options than AI, btw)

you could also check Corels website..I think it also lists this info.

And to trumpet Corel's import/export talents a few more degrees:
- Corel scans the files being considered in the import list and not only gives you a preview, it will also give you version info--even if the extension is missing or wrong! (Something I wish more apps would do)
- Corel allows you to 'build' multiple import selections from a list and when you then select 'OK', your cursor displays the name of the first file chosen before you place it. If you then press 'Enter' that file gets placed centered on the page-- or if you click, you can place and drag the image in (it scales as you drag the cursor); and then the next image is ready to place.
- Corel has the best and fullest Windows clipboard support-- you can clip virtually anything from an MS application and use Paste/Special/Metafile to bring stuff directly into Corel. This works great for MS Publisher even. Going the other way, it has a special MS App exporter that determines the best format for work going out to Office.

>>dare you to post that in the Adobe forum Broacher<<
I've got to get used to the 'segregated' application sections here. I guess that was just preaching to the converted, eh?
Anyhows, I'm officially bi-publisher--heck tri-publisher (MM). Or more? I lose track. I'm a graphic publisher philanderer-- I mean it! Adobe still has some great features that I wish Corel had, but not nearly as much as the other way around. So for 90% of my everyday graphic grunt work, Corel pulls through.
Which reminds me KKG, I was thinking about your description of your work from that monitor thread you started and I suddenly realized-- hold the phone, is this guy saying he's using CorelDraw to do his annual reports? Or is it just elements in the report? I mean, I know some people actually use CorelDraw for multipage docs but, honestly, it's not what it's designed for. It's not a layout program! (That's not to directly... unless you are one of these people who think it is!)
As for rubbing CorelDraw's features into AI advocates, I gave up on that years and years ago. Corel will NEVER overcome it's historical professional reputation as 'unprofessional' sufficiently enough to ever beat out AI in the drawing app market-- and I think their decision to pull out of the Mac market confirms this. Am I dismayed? Nah. It's just one of those 'secrets' that make me more productive than the rest. And like I've said before, since PDF came along, I've practically eliminated all handoff problems.
The thing is, see, is that I spent many, many years stuck in a low-level, low-paying job for the simple fact that the only experience I had in computer design was entirely on Windows machines, and in that, mostly CorelDraw and PageMaker. Those were the years when if you even mentioned the word 'Windows' or 'Corel' in a job interview or resume, you were instantly ignored or ejected with a derisive laugh. Am I bitter? Not any more. Things are much more tolerant today, even though there still remains an enourmous prejudice -- I should say, one-way prejudice (PC based employers don't seem to mind hiring Mac only designers), between the two platforms in many areas of production and locale.
I'm of the age now where I realize that 'I'm of the age' where few people would even look twice at me as a potential employee because of my age (I'm 45). And that's okay now too-- life with family and job is relatively balanced. When I look at the jobs that I might have craved for even 10 years ago, I realize that it would have meant getting into a severe misbalance of job/non-job time. That was how I spent my first post-grad years too! No, the 'cool' jobs are more or less, still only for workaholics, and in this business, that means either you're very young, or without family commitments.
And, it's also been my experience as a multi-application user, that very few people will even consider looking at another product after using one for more than, say a year or two. Why? I don't really know, but that's the way it is. You might as well ask why so many people that I've taught (or tried to teach!) are absolutely convinced that keyboard shortcuts are more trouble than they're worth-- no matter how often I show them otherwise. So, with this 'loyalty' factor (and it works the other way too-- few diehard CorelDraw users will ever spend enough time with AI or Fhand to get a truly balanced comparison of their features) so dominant and strong, I don't usually bother trying to show anybody in any camp what's on the other side of the fences.

just going a bit stir crazy here.
Have spent the last nearly 48 hrs with old mine workings and thousands of 5 digit assays, and the geologist has just phoned and decided he wants to cull half the assays!!!!!!!

>>and the geologist has just phoned and decided he wants to cull half the assays<<
And I bet a tiny, little voice in your head was saying, 'He can shove his assays up his...'
BTW, I've got a brother who's a geologist. Or, was. That's his doctorate... but now he designs heart pacemakers and such.

Sounds like you're living to work. Forty-eight? Man, it's been over a decade since I can remember the 'night of the talking radiators'. You've got to work out some plan B's (... or C's?) before you go from KKG to ECG.
That is an 'occupational hazard' though of being a CorelDraw pro user-- much as you love this program, it's relative pro market obscurity can make it dang hard to find good, qualified temps to pitch in when you need some extra help on a big project.

I'm still at the keyboard......the mining industry is going crazy at the moment. dont have much choice, but we are looking forward to a lovely holiday in Broome at christmas

Broome? Does that mean you're a wizard from Aus?
Best of luck with the killer schedule. Remember, when the radio keeps playing after you shut it off, it's time to seriously reconsider that power nap. (My old roomie used to take a pillow with him to school to catch what he could between classes. He'd just plop it right down on his drawing table and it was like a light switch. Wham. I don't know how effective it was in the long run-- and his loud snoring didn't do much for his reputation with the ladies in the class.)
