Indesign CS3 crashes on opening file

I have this file that seems to crash InDesign CS3 every time I try to open it on my PC however it opens fine on my Mac. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling InDesign that might get this file open?

Do you get an error message?

Are you opening from inside Indesign or drag/dropping it open?

You can try saving off the mac as an Interchange doc but usually a no-error-message instant crash is a font or plugin problem.

It said that it needed to recover the file and just sits on the Recovering screen. I tried opening indesign and then selecting the file as well as just double clicking the file in windows explorer. I did a save as from my mac however i did not know of the .inx(?) format till today so I will try that. I also deleted all my preferences.

btw. how do you save as inx. I thought it would be under save as or export but I don't see it.

File > Export and in the dropdown choose InDesign Interchange File. That's .inx. ;)
