Hi,

I have an image. I would like to make the right hand side appear further away, as a door would look when you open it. I have tried using Transform-Shear, but it just pushes the right hand side up, whereas as I need the right hand size to be shorter than the left hand side.

I am using Illustrator CS3 on a Mac.

I'd appreciate any advice, as I am new to Illustrator.

Thanks!

Use the free transform tool (e), select your object, click and hold on a corner THEN press apple + shift and THEN drag. This will perspective the corner point. Or, apple + option + shift, to perspective the corner your dragging and the corner across from it.

Thank you for your reply. When I do that, it seems to do what I want as I drag it... but when I leave go it just goes back to the way it was... Do you know what I might be doing wrong?

are you letting go of your keyboard buttons before the mouse buttons? you have to make sure to release the mouse button first or it will snap back to just plain scaling. if that's not it, i'm not sure what it could be

I have never been able to get this to work -whether it be on my Home computer MAC w/CS2 or my work PC CS3

If I chose the free transform tool, ity won't let me select anything (I get an arrow woth a "null sign" over it). Any other manipulation I do is just a basic scaling function

Gets me agrivated.

Anyone?

I got it.

I can't believe how long it took me to get this.

Now I am going to do this all day.

Seamas,

I know it sounds stupid, but make sure the items is selected and/or the layer isn't locked. ;)
