I'm not sure what we should be critiquing then. And you're right, you shouldn't be posting other peoples' work here, as it is against forum rules. I'll have to delete the image.

When you have your own work placed in your mockup, please repost! :)

It's harder to critique a web interface without it being a working site, imho. No need to rush either, why don't you wait until you have access to your own work to put in? That way we can see the whole package. ;)

There's still not much to critique here. It's a very basic navigation bar, not much to say about it. I can't really comment on it until I can click on the links and see how the site works. Are the links buttons? Do they do something when you rollover them? How intuitive is it to browse through the various pieces in your portfolio? Is the load time short or long? How well does it render in the browser/platform I'm using? I can't tell any of this from a static picture.

i suppose! it'll take a while to load the images but the navigation bar should load straight up! it'll be 100% xhtml and css compliant and not too many pages as you can see!

theres not alot for me to put on there right now but im killing two birds with one stone - i have a project on a portfolio website! :D so why not make it good?

im still figuring out the menu text and the logo kerning/size

little things - like capitals or not etc - im just wondering if there are any heads up you guys could give like is the font alright? i want a sans-serif but not sure of the perfect one to use! could you tell me some typefaces??

im trying out some gradients too so i'll post back in a bit to show changes albiet minor ones :<

thanks alot so far!

What is WSA? What page am I on? Am I looking at the pic of the day? Is that a link? What's the little arrow on the bottom do?

Bit too much space above the text on the black bar. The WSA looks like two sets of overlaid letters, which is odd.

now im trying to make a site for designers to post their work and it gets rated or something
i want it to be like facebook like really chilled and no matter what you're ****ing addicted to it! i know it sounds stupid but I think if i got some people flowing through it it might take off! im just trying to get the design right but its so tricky cos its such a simple thing im trying to get but it has to be perfect! not too pretentious but a hooker!!
im not to sure yet.. the name is on account that some many people will upload images that the page will just keep growing! i think its a really good idea because its friendly competition and a chance for people to view each others work!

the arrow will bring you to the top

The font is okay. I don't love it, I don't hate it. It is simple, and that's a good thing, imo. But I still can't really comment on the web usability of a still image. I'm not sure the arrows serve as an obvious navigation tool.

whats the word quick with all the arrows coming out of it about ?

So they click pic of the day and it takes them to pic of the day? Is there a pic of the day for each category or just an overall one?

I think what would be better is if you you didn't move down the page but there was a fixed size viewing window to show the images and they could scroll backwards and forwards through a continuous stream of images that way.

That way when they want to go somewhere else by using the navigation menu it is right there for them, no having to click the arrow to take them back to the top. Much more user friendly in my opinion.

I have a feeling that font is going to be rather large when it is on the actual site.

JapanAlex

^ no thats the actual size! :p

Sorry about all the faffing around - i was just so excited last night when i was thinking about this idead and actually taking it forward - probably because it sounds like one of those ideas like myspace or something

basically i want users to upload images onto the server and they'll display like a list and cut off at a certain point. there will be numbers allowing users to scroll backwards to find older images. there will be a Wpicture of the day" and thats why i want to call it "quick" because youll have so much stuff flowing through itll be maddening! but also exciting! :p hopefully! ill never do it lol

anyway - here is a redesign for my actual portfolio :/ tell me what you think!

i agree - butt it has been done before and im not saying its bad to take that cos how is that really "taking" anything?? i think if it goes downward it will give a better feel off rather than sideways...

sideways feel artistic/graffitish down feel graphicy/brandish

confused? so am I!!
