Hi folks. I hope everyone is doing good. I needed some insight into something. The other day I visited a friend who I do some freelance work for. He asked if I was really looking for asteady job in GD. I said yeah of course. He then called a guy he knew who was looking for an entry level artist. After getting off the phone, he then told me to go over there and meet with him. I did, tested for the position, interviewed with him, and then tells me he'll give me a shot. The only thing is he would call me to start working once more work came into the shop (they do package designs and printing). For myself, this would be a great opportunity to get my foot in the door. Still, I don't know when I'm going to be called in. I just feel like I'm in limbo. I really do want to work and gain experience.
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or ideas about this, or what I should do. I will be calling him in a couple of weeks to see what's going on, but I wonder what else I should do. I just wonder if anything will come out of this.
Any ideas?

Thank you for reading
Sincerely,
Joe

Keep looking for another job...if this one takes off, then you can decide which of the two is better for you. If it doesn't, you've got a good back up plan.

Magnus speaks wisdom, you still need to eat, in the meanwhile also contact other local design studio's seeing if they have freelance work, and find a job in retail/printshop/anything to pay the bills. If this guy cant take you on in a month or so, I'd move on looking for other options.

I've learned the hard way not to stop looking. I've had employers tell me that I'm just what they're looking for but that they have to clear it with so-and-so, or they have to wait a few weeks until budget is approved, etc - never stop looking.

Until you actually start working there, consider yourself not hired.

I haven't lost my mind... it's backed up on disk somewhere.
