Firstly. I hate Word.

One of my clients wants to put her letterhead that I designed into a word template so she can type up letters etc in word.

Is this possible? How? And what file type do I need to give her?

Word sucks but there are a number of ways that they can do this.
Firstly do they want to embeded the image into the word document or will they be printing on to letter headed paper?

If they need the logo embeded into the word doc, create a word turn on the header and footer and insert either a 300 dpi JPG, PNG or wmf file and adjust to suit your design.

You can add footer information at the same time.
Once you are happy with your header and footer, double click on the page to exit the header and footer amendment mode. You should now be able to edit the information on the main page. Create a text box add the clients address and move to the correct position.

Again once you are happy, click save as and choose document template from the 'Save as Type' drop down menu.

Your client will now be able to create new letters from this and as when she runs on to the next page the header and footer set up automatically create a continuation sheet.

sure, just imbed a flat image of the letterhead behind a text box within Word. Lock the image so she can't move it. Just give her the .doc/.docx file.

I wouldn't expect her to print bleed with this method though, I hope she knows this/the letterhead was designed accordingly.

shmoo, there's another active thread right now discussing this subject. Search around, I will too. ;)

Another (simpler) possibility:

Get the letterhead printed, have your client just print their letters on them. ;)

Another (simpler) possibility:

Get the letterhead printed, have your client just print their letters on them. ;)

Our workflow is now:

• Create letterhead template for client

• client creates correspondence in template

• client saves a PDF from Word and e-mails correspondence to recipient

• recipient prints on convenience copier or files in a computer folder, their choice, saving my company the printing costs

*shrug*

Now you know why I drool when I find pictures of engraved business cards. :(

^^In that instance (emailing a letter with the letterhead intact), I can see how getting the letterhead into a Word template would be needed. I just try to avoid anything and everything Word-related. :D

Yeah, it's a part of our new, nuclear-powered "deadline? what deadline? Planning ahead? Never heard of it." campaign. It's rather exhausting.
