Indesign Excel

Does anyone know how to add style tags in Excel that Indesign will recognize when importing the data?

Surely it would be easier to create the style tags in Indesign so when you import the data they end up in the style you want?

thanks I figured that out ;) would you happen to know how to NOT import the empty fields from Excel?
