html question

hi all! sorry if this is posted in the wrong place..

I am looking on how to do this thing with what I think is done in html, mabe java or something. I seen it on this one site I was at that I cannot find for the life of me anymore:( So i will try and explain.

You know that bar at the very bottom of the browsers, not sure what its called, status bar maybe, but where it tells you the site is loading, and once its loaded it generaly will say the site url?

anyways this site I was at had the font down there change all the time, in this case it made every letter goto uppercase and back to small one at a time in a wave like pattern, looked really cool and would love to know how to do this. Anyone seen this and know how?

If you mean it did that in the status bar, it was JavaScript. However, I don't recommend doing that. It's amaturish and in many cases just annoying. Not to mention it will most likely only work in IE.

thanks, and it was acualy for a high profile animation studio, jsut cant find it:/ but it looked nice, worked with fire fox, and didnt look cheesy at all.

Then try hotscripts.com or try searching google for 'status bar javascript uppercase' or something along those lines.

hi, yes I have searched some scripting sites, and believe it or not, I am well aware of google. I was posting in the hopes that maybe somewhere here could help, but I guess this isnt a forum for helping html newbies, judging by the 'super' helpful first response and the comments thereafter...

my favorite site for scripts is htmlgoodies.com, bignosebird, and dynamichtml, good luck and i hope you find what you are looking for. If you can't find the script, i have a friend at http://www.aransas.net who use to use that same script, her name is Nancy, just email her and she will probably be more than happy to give you the script, refered by me Lana from islandhub.

To tell you the truth im not happy with the overall layout though, it was the first website ive made , and its got lots of errors and stuff behind the scenes too /emoticons/icon_redface.gif But its been like that for a long time too, so its getting old to me =P

Ive finally got time to start working on my next version though. Curious, what do you guys thing about splash screens? or is it better just to have the users go straight to the menu?

The main idea of useability is to make it as quick and easy as possible for users to get to the content they want. So splash screens generally not good. Unless you have a really good reason like different versions of your site for different countries. Or your site is about splash screens.

Yeah, splash screens are useless. They just waste bandwidth and the users time.

I like your site except for the content being in that inner frame. Having to use multiple scrollbars is annoying.
