Will i need Photoshop?

I dont actually know if i will need photoshop for what i am trying to do, but i would like to know the best way for me to create a simple logo.

I have taken a picture of what i want my logo to be (its a golf hole), but now i want to 'computerise' it to make it my logo.

How do i go about doing this?

No you don't need Photoshop.
You don't make logos in Photoshop.
You need a vector program. Place the image then make the graphic over the top. But if you don't know what closed shape, stroke, fill, knockout, pathfinder, vector, etc mean, making a logo that is usable is not as easy as you might want to think.
