i got a tiff logo sent to me and opened it in illustrator and i cant seem to get rid of the white outlining the logo. the tools in illustrator wont work with the file/logo.when i open it in photoshop the outlining is transparent.
any input would be great!

The tools in Illustrator aren't going to do much good for a raster tiff image unless you make a clipping path around the logo with the pen tool.
They don't have an original vector logo to send you?

hey virgo,
thats all they have to give me. as far as the pen too, do i choose the - sign or the <?i dont use the pen too often. ill prob have to just create the brochure in photoshop if the pen tool doesnt work.

That's not what Photoshop is for, don't do that.
If your logo looks ok in PS, try saving a copy as PSD file, then import that into Illy.

What you need to do is remove the white background in photoshop and save it as a .psd file.
There are some threads here that already talk about removing a background.
Then bring the .psd file into illustrator by using File>Place or drag and drop from Explorer or Finder.
