I'm trying to use the Adobe Illustrator shortcut Command + Option + D but it is conflicting with the operating system's shortcut (show and hide dock).
This shortcut will allow me to duplicate an object and rotate it consistently.
Anyone know a workaround or how to change mac's operating system shortucts?
Thanks,
Joe

Apple -> System Preferences -> Mouse & Keyboard
you can override the operating system shortcuts from there.

Nice! Thanks for your help. Command + Option + D doesn't work how I thought it would though

have you tried using the rotate too? just put in your settings then it should remember the degree of the turn. works if you are looking to design spirals and other tesselation type illustrations

If you don't want to lose the functionality of the currently f key setup, when you need to use an F-key command while in illy or ps, simply include the fn key in your command (example: fn + command + option + d). I. That's what I do and it works perfectly fine. Sometimes I guess it can be a pain to hit the extra fn key...but then you can keep your settings (I like having quick access to my media controls, volume and brightness keys personally).
As for repeating a transform, it only works if you have selected the object, transformed it, and then go to transform it again (with the command + option D). It won't work if you click off and then back on the object, or go do something else then come back to transform again. Hope that made sense...

What does CMD + Option +D in Illustrator do?
Cmd + D is Transform Again. That doesn't conflict with Dock.

duh, right...lol cmd D IS transform again..cmd option d does just bring the dock up if its hiding....so the OP just had the command wrong. I use this command all the time, I don't know why I didn't catch that option isn' used.
