Hi,

I have attached an image of a problem I am getting tired of in Photoshop.

http://www.newmedia.lincoln.ac.uk/jrtilbrook/brush_stamp.jpg

If I make a path with the pen tool and then stroke it with the brush tool, it makes a stamp of the size of the brush and just repeats itself across the line. Is there another way of making curved lines in Photoshop as this is beyond useless. Am I missing something or is the brush tool virtually useless at making curves? I know I can't get vector style results but I refuse to believe this is only way Photoshop can draw curved lines.

This also happens when using the 'stroke' layer style. It becomes more noticeable with larger brush sizes but is still visible at relatively low brush sizes.

What can be done to remedy this?

Thank you for reading.

Try this in the brush pallet

Try this in the brush pallet Thank you very much! But why would the horrible bumpy brush be the default setting instead of the 1% spacing?

Is there a way to make every brush like this permanetly or will I have to set it each time I want smooth lines?

No, it should stay that way, it does for me. It depends if you are using the the default settings
that are in the pallet. Explore and experiment a little and all will be revealed.

If you create a file at 300dpi and relatively large dimensions and then set the brush spacing at 1% you will notice that its starting getting slow, especially if you're using a large sized brush! Manytimes and depending on the computer it has a very long delay! Therefore the default settings are set to 25% for better performance.

Its very good and you should know the brushes properties! You can do magic with it! :D
