Hi,

I'm having problem with vectors on black background. It displays clean on white, gray, etc.. but displays a border when against a black background.

Here's an example:

I'm new to illustrator and this is really driving me mad, as this is probably a basic mistake.

Would appreciate any help on this.

Thank you.

Just an additional note.

If I use default CMYK black (C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=100) the problem remains, but the colors display clean if I use custom black (C=100 M=100 Y=100 K=100).

What program are you using the vector in? Are you using the vector art in Photoshop? It looks to me like you drew it in Illustrator and moved it over to Photoshop, cropped it, and enlarged it quite a bit...

No, it's still Illustrator. I zoomed in Illustrator and made print screens and it's why it looks that way. But it's exactly the way I see it in illustrator.

Setting Document Color Mode to RGB solves the issue in Illustrator. I just don't get why it doesn't display clean in CMYK. I'm aware that CMYK black is not pure black but I was thinking if there was a way of displaying it clean in CMYK.

Thank you for your reply.

Don't view in Pixel Pre view (View > Pixel Preview). Illustrator does a crummy job of previewing artwork like that. If you insist on viewing it with Pixel Preview, make sure you are looking at it at 100% and NOT ANY LARGER.

Actually, Illustrator does a great job of pixel preview. It's just that you don't want it to do pixel preview most of the time, as it's only really useful for web design, and hardly anyone uses Illustrator for web design ;)
