check out wacom (http://www.wacom.com)

Never used a pen in my entire 25year career (cartographer/designer). Heads up digitising (on scans) for mapping, and good tools in corel for designing.

yeah, WACOM make terrific tablets, at good prices.

mine doesn't work too well with my laptop (still waiting for an answer from customer support...), so i'm using a Intellimouse explorer 3.0 i found a yardsale for $5

CorelDRAW! 12: $180
WACOM Tablet: $100

Finding out, after spending 3 years mastering Photopaint, that i should have been using CorelDRAW all along: Priceless

There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's common sense.

I've been on a tablet for about 15, I guess. One of the things that's rarely touted by the Wacom (probably because it would be too expensive to prove) is the lowered health risk, because a pen eliminates so much of the strain common in mouse overuse. So I'm curious KKG, have you ever had to 'give it a rest' from too much mousing around?

I'm not sure cartographing involves as much photo masking and touchup work as most regular design work does. That's one real big advantage with the pen, for sure.

And always glad to meet another CDraw user. (I'm one of the 'Since 1.0' club myself)
