Hey All,
Here is a new one on me, a client of mine got this idea that he wants to do a 3D brouchure. Either one that you can put those new "3D glasses" or the old blue and red glasses. Preferably the new glasses http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/alien2.gif
I have been looking around for the technique to do this, but no luck thus far.
He also wants me to look into how to do something else. Remember those pictures that after you stared at an image long enough you saw something jump out at you? He wants me to do something like that. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/eyecrazy.gif
Now, any ideas where I can find the techniques to do this? I have looked a bit on google, but not a lot yet. Thought I would pop the idea here first and see what everyone thought of this. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/specool.gif

I don't know how much this will help but I used to have an old comic book that used 3-D glasses. Basically It looks like they have the image twice just offset a bit. My guess is the greater the offset the more it pops out. I have no idea how the new 3-D works, but I will try some google searches when I get to work.......Its gonna be sooooooo slow.

As for the idea of 'Magic' pictures.....I hate it. But thats just because I have never seen one (I feel like William from Mallrats-One day I will see the sailboat) /emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh yea....comic art attached

these are lenticular graphics and can be done on a litho press. Just checked their litho pricing. $1.00 each for 1000 postcards plus set up (do the set up yourself and only pay for the preflight). I only do the big one-off stuff but I save every single postcard they send me.

Check out the 'how to' on creating 3D graphics you don't need glasses for and the litho link.

As for those stare-at-em pics, I could never get those to work for me (ADD). Why frustrate your audience? Face it, who is gonna stare at an ad long enought to make it work anyway.

I do completly agree with you on those stare-at-em pics. I actually used the same example to my own client about the Mallrats. I could stare at those stupid things and nevery get anything!
Thanks, I will look for some stuff when I am done work here as well! I personally believe that it is a cool idea, but I am not sure if it will fly or not. I hope so, it will diffenatly get there name out there (a pizza place to tell you the truth!)
Any more comments on this would be greatly appriciated!
