I'm trying to open a quark file in indesign but it keeps giving me an error message saying it doesn't recognize the file or needs a plug in. Am I doing something wrong? /emoticons/frusty.gif

InD will only open Q4 files. You will probably have to save down if you can.

Try 'save page as EPS' in Quark, open it in Illustrator, save it as an .ai or .eps file, then opening it in InDesign. I don't have time to try this on my machine, but when I first got ID CS, I experimented with this method and am pretty sure it will work.
The best way is obviously to backsave to Qx4, but if you've got Qx6 documents, and you haven't got Qx5 or 4, then you're stuffed.

You can't backsave from Q6 to Q4. Q6 will only backsave to 5.
If you do the eps thing, watch your colors.
